Q:
What mobile phones are compatible with your site?
A: Check the compatibility
list.
Q: I'm recieving a "File
Format Unkown" (or similar) error when attempting to download
a ringtone, why?
A: In many cases, this is caused when the midi file is
not compatible with your mobile phone. This can be caused by the
following:
1) Your network restricts the downloading of ringtones.
2 ) The midi hasn't been optimized correctly (please contact
us)
3 ) The midi is too big to download.
NOTE: Some mobile phone service providers restrict
the downloading of midi ringtones via WAP. One such provider is
Verizon Wireless.
Q: Does it cost anything to download
ringtones from your site?
A: The only charge you pay is that of your WAP service
provider. The downloading of ringtones from our site can be done
completely free of charge.
Q: I want to request a ringtone,
how do I go about this?
A: Check out our sister forums here.
It has a special polyphonic request area.
Q: I have a Nokia 7210 and I'm
not able to set a ringtone from the gallery as a message alert
tone, why?
A: To solve this you need to update your phone's firmware
to the latest version. This can be done by any Nokia repair centre
(Carphone Warehouse) although check with the shop you bought your
phone as they will most likely update the firmware for free.
Q: I have an Ericsson/Motorola
(C350) and I'm recieving the "403: Forbidden" (or similar)
error when attempting to download a ringtone, why?
A: This problem occurs when downloading ringtones above
the phone's limit of 3KB (3000 bytes). Unfortunately there is
nothing you (or we) can do about this other than make sure your
download ringtones that are under 3KB in size.
Q: I'm receiving a "Not Acceptable"
error when attempting to download your ringtones. why?
A: We've had many e-mails regarding this error (too many to respond
to all) and unfortunately we have no solution to this problem. It's seems
that the phone does not like/support ringtones downloaded via WAP and
this problem may lie with your operator network's limits.
Q: How do I save polyphonic ringtones
on a Sharp GX10(i)?
A: When you have selected a ringtone to download you should hear
it playing on your phone. To download the ringtone you must press the
green call button and the option to save will be presented.
Q: What is an MMF ringtone?
A: MMF is a file format defined by the SMAF format which stands for "Synthetic music Mobile Application Format", and is a data format specified by YAMAHA that defines multimedia content for use on hand-held portable devices, such as mobile phones (including Samsung phones) and PDAs. The most common application of SMAF is the creation of ring tones for mobile phones; however, the full specification defines support for graphics too.
The YAMAHA MA-1, MA-2, MA-3,and MA-5 sound chips feature in many of today's mobile phones and other hand-held devices. Any device incorporating one of these chips is capable of playing SMAF sound files.
Q: I don't have WAP on my phone. Can I download the free content (ringtones/screensavers) with/to my PC?
A: Our free content is currently only available for download via our wapsite. We do not offer the facility for PC download, partly due to the fact our website is funded through our (returning) visitors. Without visitors, we cannot maintain the website, and therefore we would not be able to offer our content for free.
We would kindly ask that you keep this in mind when using the website and recommend the website whereever possible (ie. to your friends, to forums you may visit, etc).
